Job summary

The Global Lead, Pain Early Development at Lilly is a senior medical and scientific leadership role reporting to Lilly Research Laboratories and Neuroscience Business Unit. This leader defines the strategy for pain programs from discovery through Phase 2, guiding clinical development with an emphasis on innovative and accelerated approaches.

You will collaborate across Neuroscience, R&D, and external partners, shape regulatory interactions, and drive portfolio delivery while ensuring alignment

Qualifications

• MD with board eligibility or certification in a medical specialty relevant to pain development and experience in analgesic programs.
• Minimum 12+ years of progressive analgesic clinical development experience.
• Strong track record influencing senior leaders and shaping strategic decisions in matrixed organizations.
• Experience leading early-phase clinical development strategy and portfolio delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the integrated clinical development strategy for the Neuroscience Pain early-phase portfolio (discovery to Phase 2).
• Drive governance, go/no-go decisions, and stage-gate reviews to prioritize pipeline programs.
• Provide enterprise-wide visibility into Pain portfolio health and development opportunities to senior leadership.
• Lead external innovation, BD activities and collaborations to address evolving portfolio needs.
• Oversee regulatory interactions and scientific data disclosure for the Pain portfolio, including submissions.
