Global Roles in New York is seeking a Judicial Affairs Officer to support justice and corrections components within UN peace operations. Qualifikationen

• Advanced university degree in law (JD, LLB or equivalent) is required.
• A minimum of five years experience as a practicing lawyer, prosecutor, judge, legal expert, or international rule of law advisor is required.
• Experience working in a front office setting is required.
• Experience contributing to joint programming with UN counterparts and engaging with Member States and partners is required.
• One year supporting international rule of law initiatives at HQ and at least one year in peace operation context outside own country is required.
• English at UN Level III proficiency; French is desirable at Level II.

• Provide backstopping support to justice and corrections components in UN peace operations.
• Review and analyze justice issues in UN peace operations.
• Maintain regular contact with mission counterparts and provide feedback and analysis on reports and communications.
• Support the planning of justice and legal system aspects of peace operations.
• Draft, review and edit briefing notes, cables, memoranda, and talking points for senior officials.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners, including UN partners of the Global Focal Point for the Rule of Law.
• Contribute to development and review of guidance materials and training tools.
