Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a Principal Transport and IP Network Engineer to own the Gateway network, including switches, routers, firewalls, and the optical matrix. You will define SKUs, testing procedures, and golden configurations while leading FOA for new Gateway SKUs and ensuring integration with eNB/gNB, BPMS, NCC, and OSS platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of carrier-grade IP network engineering in a production network.
• Ownership of routing, switching, firewall, and optical transport infrastructure.
• Experience defining hardware/software SKUs, test plans, and golden configurations.
• Leading FOA or first-deployment validation efforts.
• Hands-on experience with MPLS, segment routing, BGP policy, SDN, QoS, multicast, and cloud networking.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete networking solution within the Gateway, including switches, routers, firewalls, and the optical matrix.
• Define, lifecycle-manage, and document the network SKU across all Gateway types.
• Develop and maintain acceptance testing procedures, pass/fail criteria, and golden configurations for the network SKU.
• Support integration of networking equipment with other Gateway elements (eNB/gNB, BPMS, NCC, OSS).
• Lead the networking First Office Application (FOA) for each new Gateway SKU.
• Design resilient connectivity from gateways to MNO interconnects; engineer gateway diversity and redundancy.
• Define routing, traffic-engineering, and failover behavior; build scalable IP addressing and routing.
• Establish latency, packet-loss, and jitter objectives; define QoS for voice, messaging, data.
• Integrate terrestrial fiber and cloud environments; design for gateway outage and congestion.
• Implement telemetry for path-level performance and troubleshoot issues.
