Job summary

Arkema Inc. is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel – Intellectual Property to guide the company on global patent strategy and enforcement.

The role collaborates closely with R&D teams to identify patentable innovations and drafts and prosecutes patent applications while negotiating IP terms across a range of agreements. The attorney will advise senior leadership on IP matters, manage confidential information, and represent Arkema in USPTO proceedings, reporting to the Deputy General

Qualifications

• 10+ years IP and patent experience, preferably in large chemical/manufacturing environments.
• Licensed to practice before the USPTO; PA bar preferred.
• In‑house and/or law firm experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and prosecute patent filings.
• Partner with R&D scientists to identify and protect patentable innovations.
• Negotiate IP matters with customers, suppliers, vendors, and government officials.
• Draft and negotiate patent, trademark, trade secrets and confidentiality agreements.
• Oversee university and government IP collaborations; represent the company in IP matters.
