Job summary

Verisign Inc. in Reston, VA is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the global interconnection strategy, peering negotiations, and IP transit management.

You will drive optimization across IX participation, settlement-free peering, and traffic engineering for a high‑volume, globally distributed network. The role requires deep networking expertise, strong business acumen, and active engagement with industry groups to improve performance, resiliency, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Evidence of strong networking expertise and business negotiation skills.
• Experience with settlement-free, paid peering, and transit arrangements.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with ISPs, carriers, cloud providers, and IX operators.
• Experience operating large-scale global networks and delivering cost optimizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the global peering and interconnection strategy.
• Negotiate and manage settlement-free, bilateral, multilateral, public and private peering.
• Coordinate IX operations, cross-connects, and exchange deployments.
• Manage transit providers, capacity planning, and pricing negotiations.
• Define routing policies and optimize traffic across peering, transit, and IX fabrics.
• Represent Verisign at NANOG, RIPE, APRICOT and行业 forums.
