Job summary

The Steely Group is seeking an HR Operations Specialist to manage Workday HCM lifecycle transactions and ensure data accuracy across the employee journey. You will coordinate onboarding processes, including I-9 verification, and support global new hire communications.

You will triage HR inquiries, maintain records, and assist with compliance, benefits, and reporting. The role emphasizes process documentation, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement in HR service delivery.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employee Lifecycle & Workday Operations – 30% Process HR transactions across the full hire-to-retire lifecycle in Workday HCM, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, data integrity, and adherence to established workflows. Support new hire operational processes, including I-9 verification, onboarding documentation, Workday onboarding activities, and coordination with internal stakeholders to deliver a smooth employee experience. Coordinate global new hire onboarding communications, including preparing, sending, and tracking standard messages and follow-ups to support a consistent onboarding experience. Support contingent workforce management by processing contingent worker transactions in Workday HCM, maintaining accurate worker data, and coordinating updates with internal stakeholders as needed.
  • HR Service Delivery, Benefits, Leave, Immigration & Mobility Support – 30% Support the HR service center by triaging employee inquiries, resolving routine HR Operations questions, coordinating next steps, routing requests to the appropriate HR partners or centers of excellence, and escalating complex matters as appropriate. Support global leave of absence administration in partnership with Benefits, including tracking, documentation, maintaining local compliance requirements, and employee follow-up. Provide general operational support for global benefits programs and related processes, including coordination, documentation, data updates, employee inquiries, and cross-functional follow-up as needed. Coordinate benefits and HR Operations-related projects, including data gathering, documentation, stakeholder follow-up, and other operational support as needed. Support immigration and mobility processes by coordinating with employees, managers, internal stakeholders, external counsel, and vendors as needed.
  • Compliance, Employee Records, Reporting & Audit Readiness – 25% Maintain employee records and conduct routine HR data and employee file audits, including document collection, discrepancy identification, missing documentation follow-up, record retention, and adherence to compliance requirements and naming conventions. Maintain HR Operations trackers, process calendars, and recurring follow-ups to ensure timely completion of employee lifecycle, compliance, benefits, mobility, and documentation-related activities. Prepare recurring and ad hoc HR reports, data pulls, and operational summaries to support HR Operations, Benefits, Compliance, Finance, Legal, IT, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Process Documentation, Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Support – 15% Assist with creating and maintaining HR Operations process documentation, SOPs, guides, and Workday transaction resources for employees, managers, and HR users. Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve service delivery, and support automation or technology-enabled solutions that enhance efficiency and data accuracy. Partner with HR and cross-functional teams on ad hoc requests, departmental initiatives, and projects that enhance operational efficiency and employee experience.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. 3–5 years of Human Resources experience, with direct experience in HR Operations, HR shared services, employee lifecycle administration, or HR systems support. Hands-on Workday HCM experience processing employee lifecycle transactions, maintaining data accuracy, and supporting process compliance. Strong understanding of HR Operations fundamentals, including onboarding, employee data management, compliance documentation, leaves of absence, employee records, and service delivery. Experience maintaining HR Operations trackers, conducting data or document audits, following up on missing information, and preparing HR reports or operational summaries. Ability to independently research and resolve routine HR Operations inquiries, coordinate follow-up, and escalat complex matters appropriately. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data transformation. Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Capabilities:

Experience supporting HR Operations in a global or multi-country environment. Experience with immigration, mobility, relocation, benefits, or leave processes. Familiarity with HR service delivery, shared inbox management, employee inquiry triage, or HR case management. Experience creating or maintaining SOPs, process documentation, work instructions, or HR Operations guides. Interest in process improvement, automation, HR technology, and scalable service delivery. Collaborative, service-oriented approach with sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
