Job summary

Fanatics is seeking an HR Compliance Manager in New York to lead our background check program, ensure I‑9 and employment-law compliance, and partner with HR, Legal, and Talent Acquisition across the employee lifecycle. The role focuses on risk management with a strong employee experience.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in HR compliance, familiarity with FCRA/EEOC, vendor management, and a proactive approach to policy development across domestic and international sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in HR compliance or related field.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and background check regulations (FCRA, EEOC, etc.).
• Experience working with third‑party background screening vendors.
• Able to balance compliance requirements with business needs and explain complex rules in plain language.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the background check program, vendor management, and process documentation.
• Manage I-9 compliance and related audit readiness activities.
• Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Talent Acquisition to apply standards across the employee lifecycle.
• Oversee employment law compliance including leaves, salary transparency, notice requirements, and recordkeeping.
• Develop and maintain domestic and international employment policies (Canada, Australia, France).
• Support reviews of restrictive covenant agreements and offboarding protocols to ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with Payroll and HR Operations on pay, tax, and reporting obligations.
• Conduct internal audits and maintain records to reduce risk and support reporting requirements.
• Act as advisor to HR and business leaders on compliance practices.
• Drive a culture of fairness and integrity in compliance initiatives.
