Job summary

CLASP, based in Washington, DC, seeks a Chief Officer/Senior Director to lead Market Development Programs for appliances, with a focus on energy-efficient products in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and beyond.

The role directs the Market Development team across DC, India, and Nairobi, shaping strategy, building partnerships with funders, manufacturers, and NGOs, and guiding program impact metrics and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of international program implementation and leadership.
• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
• Experience in off-grid clean energy sectors in Africa and India.
• Exceptional English written and spoken communication.
• Ability to raise funding and partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Evolve strategy and identify new impact areas.
• Lead and grow a high-performing team.
• Develop programs and guide implementation, including budgets and M&E.
• Establish partnerships with funders, industry, and NGOs.
• Track impacts and progress with metrics and reporting.
• Enhance CLASP’s global brand and visibility.
• Expand advisory services for on-grid market development.
• Communicate outcomes through stories, papers, and engagements.
• Serve as senior leadership contributor with CEO.
