Job summary

Shift4 is seeking a Director of Government Affairs to shape and execute the company’s policy strategy across domestic and international arenas. The role reports to the Chief of Staff and collaborates with executive leadership on legislative and regulatory matters.

The position requires strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to work across borders with trade associations, regulators, and industry groups. Onsite at Shift4 headquarters with travel to the Philadelphia/DC region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, IR, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive government affairs or public policy experience.
• Experience in corporate, technology, payments, or similarly regulated environment.
• Proven ability to translate policy into actionable business insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead domestic and international government affairs strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Advise Chief of Staff and executive leadership on legislative, regulatory, and public policy developments.
• Manage relationships with trade associations, government officials, and external stakeholders.
• Oversee external lobbyists and consultants, monitoring deliverables and effectiveness.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to address policy risks and opportunities.
• Prepare executive briefing materials and stakeholder maps for leadership engagements.
