Job summary

Actus Consulting Group in Torrance, CA is seeking a Food Merchandising Manager (Japanese bilingual preferred) to develop and oversee food products and supplier relationships for North American operations.

The role coordinates with headquarters in Japan, expands sales and profitability, manages product-related claims, shipment schedules, budgets, and provides supervision and training to team members. Travel domestically and internationally is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3+ years in merchandising, purchasing, sourcing, or related fields.
• Experience in food, beverage, or trading industries.
• Strong negotiation, communication, analytical, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Able to commute to the office.
• Work authorization in the U.S.; Visa Sponsorship not offered.

Responsibilities

• Develop and merchandise new food products, brands and suppliers across the Americas.
• Evaluate and propose new products based on market trends, pricing, quality and profitability.
• Increase sales and profitability of assigned products.
• Coordinate samples, specifications, quotations, presentations and launches.
• Monitor market trends and competitive activities in food & beverage.
• Identify and build relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and lead times.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.
• Manage quality issues, complaints, shortages, damages and claims.
• Coordinate investigations and corrective actions with suppliers and HQ.
• Track claims through resolution and document properly.
• Monitor purchase orders, production schedules, shipment timelines and delivery status.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, warehouses and internal teams for timely shipments.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts and analyze results.
• Report variances to management.
• Support U.S. sales and business development.
• Coordinate quotes, samples, meetings and trade shows.
• Expand U.S. business and identify opportunities.
• Supervise and train team members.
• Provide training and coaching on product knowledge and skills.
• Assign and prioritize work.
• Provide feedback on performance and development needs.
• Travel domestically and internationally; coordinate with HQ.
