Job summary

Google runs one of the largest computational fleets globally. As Principal Engineer, Resource Optimization and Fleet Logic, you will own the architectural outlook and end-to-end technical strategy for our capacity planning ecosystem.

You will serve as the primary technical authority, knitting together constraints, optimization, and deployment workflows to achieve optimal capacity online in the shortest time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
• 15 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering large-scale capacity planning, IaaS/PaaS solutions, or fleet management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of global fleet planning, defining a multi-year engineering roadmap to deliver 10x more data center capacity with ML, compute and storage.
• Model, forecast, and reconfigure fleet resources using ML hardware and data center topology.
• Partner across AI and Infrastructure to define a unified capacity management product suite.
• Integrate AI/ML, operations research, and optimization into capacity planning to reduce cycles and maximize utilization.
• Collaborate with academia and industry to anticipate technology trends.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar technical field

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field
