Job Description

The GC&E Global Financial Crimes (GFC) team seeks a highly qualified attorney to lead the in-house legal team responsible for managing legal and regulatory matters related to global Economic and Trade Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Anti-Corruption programs. The role involves managing strategic initiatives, providing legal advice, and ensuring high standards of ethics and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the GFC legal team to mitigate financial crime risk.
  2. Coordinate and lead global financial crimes initiatives.
  3. Oversee legal guidance for transaction requests to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  4. Maintain and update policies and procedures related to financial crime.
  5. Conduct training to enhance awareness and compliance among business partners.
  6. Monitor and advise on global regulatory developments across jurisdictions.
  7. Handle regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations.
  8. Collaborate on due diligence activities related to M&A transactions.
  9. Lead the team to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum twelve years of legal practice, with significant experience in sanctions, AML, and anti-corruption laws.
  • Proven leadership of high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, client focus, attention to detail, and research abilities.
  • Experience with OFAC, EU, UK sanctions, FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and AML regulations preferred.
  • Experience in the insurance industry or with financial regulatory agencies is a plus.
