SPI Pharma is seeking an experienced and highly capable Global Financial Controller to lead the company’s global accounting, financial reporting, compliance and controls environment.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is responsible for the integrity of SPI Pharma’s financial statements, maintenance of a strong internal control framework, timely global close and consolidation processes, statutory compliance, treasury support, external and internal audit management, and accounting governance across SPI’s global operations.
Leading a team of 5 reports at the Wilmington office and additional dotted line reports at each of our global sites in the US, France, Germany, South Africa, Malta and India, the successful candidate must possess the ability to delegate, manage and develop employees.
As a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, the Global Financial Controller will partner closely with FP&A, operations, commercial leadership, site management and ABFI stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, strong financial discipline, and continuous improvement of finance processes globally. The role also plays a critical leadership position in ongoing systems, process improvement and ERP transformation initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead SPI Pharma’s global accounting, consolidation and financial reporting processes
- Lead, develop and mentor the global accounting organization based in Wilmington and the controllership leads at each of our global sites.
- Ensure timely, accurate and compliant month-end and year-end close activities
- Maintain a strong internal control environment and compliance with all applicable accounting standards, regulations and ABF corporate requirements
- Own accounting policy and technical accounting matters
- Serve as the key contact point for audit activities and statutory reporting requirements globally
- Partner with the CFO on cash management, working capital performance, treasury activities and FX governance
- Drive strong balance sheet discipline and financial risk management practices
- Partner closely with finance and cross-functional teams to support business performance and enable decision-making
- Lead accounting and finance process improvements, including support for an upcoming ERP implementation
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and high performance
Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
- Proven experience leading global accounting and consolidation functions
- Experience working with multinational organizations
- Experience managing statutory reporting requirements and audits
- Strong background in manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
- Deep understanding of internal controls and governance frameworks
- Advanced financial reporting / consolidation experience
- Advanced excel and financial analysis skills
- Strong business acumen beyond finance
- Experience with ERP implementations preferred
- Experience with D365, Adage, or JDE ERPS preferred
