Job summary

SPI Pharma is seeking a Global Financial Controller to lead global accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting. You will own internal controls, ensure timely closes, and drive regulatory compliance across sites in the United States and internationally.

Reporting to the CFO, you will mentor five direct reports and collaborate with FP&A, Operations, and site management to optimize finance processes and systems, including ERP implementations, while maintaining strong financial stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading global accounting and consolidation functions.
  • Experience in multinational organizations.
  • Experience managing statutory reporting requirements and audit processes.
  • Strong manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (D365, Adage, JD Edwards) preferred.

Position Summary

SPI Pharma is seeking an experienced and highly capable Global Financial Controller to lead the company's global accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and controls environment.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role is responsible for the integrity of SPI Pharma's financial statements, maintenance of a strong internal control framework, timely global close and consolidation processes, statutory compliance, treasury support, audit management, and accounting governance across SPI Pharma's global operations.

The role leads a team of five direct reports based in Wilmington and provides functional leadership to controllership resources across SPI Pharma's sites in the United States, France, Germany, South Africa, Malta, and India. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong people leadership skills, with the ability to delegate effectively, develop talent, and drive accountability.

As a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, the Global Financial Controller will partner closely with FP&A, Operations, Commercial Leadership, Site Management, and ABFI stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting, robust financial controls, and continuous improvement of finance processes globally. The position also plays a critical leadership role in systems enhancements, process optimization, and ERP transformation initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead SPI Pharma's global accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting processes.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the global accounting team and site controllership leaders.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and ABF corporate requirements.
  • Own accounting policy development and technical accounting matters.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits and global statutory reporting requirements.
  • Partner with the CFO on cash management, working capital performance, treasury activities, and foreign exchange governance.
  • Drive strong balance sheet management and financial risk mitigation practices.
  • Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to support business performance and informed decision-making.
  • Lead accounting and finance process improvement initiatives, including support for ERP implementation projects.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading global accounting and consolidation functions.
  • Experience working within multinational organizations.
  • Experience managing statutory reporting requirements and audit processes.
  • Strong manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced financial reporting and consolidation expertise.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
  • Experience with D365, Adage, or JD Edwards (JDE) ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen.
