Job summary

Newlab is seeking a Global Director of Facilities to oversee the operation, maintenance, and continued development of our facilities across Brooklyn, Detroit, New Orleans, and future locations. This role is based in Brooklyn and reports to senior leadership.

The position will manage renovations, capital improvements, and the transition of new facilities from development into ongoing operations, while building local facilities teams and coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and

Qualifications

• Experience managing facilities operations across multiple locations.
• Strong project-management including budgeting and scheduling.
• Experience overseeing renovations or construction projects.
• Experience with budgets, procurement, and contractor oversight.
• Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly (1–2x per month) among locations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee facilities operations across all Newlab locations.
• Establish systems for maintenance, safety, security, vendors, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage construction, renovation, and capital-improvement projects from planning to completion.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, landlords, public partners, and internal teams.
• Develop annual operating and capital budgets and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Support the evaluation, design, construction, and opening of future locations.
• Build and manage local facilities teams and third-party service providers.
• Provide clear reporting on project schedules, budgets, risks, and building performance.
