Job summary

IREX is a global solutions provider advancing education and economic opportunity. The Project Director will lead a large, multi-component international exchange portfolio with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality experiences and strong fiduciary stewardship.

The role requires strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and a track record of managing complex, federally funded programs. Location in Washington, DC area with hybrid work arrangements is typical for this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in international affairs, public policy, education, international development, or related field required.
• Minimum 8–10 years managing international education/exchange programs.
• Experience with U.S. Government-funded programs and SEVIS knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic portfolio direction, set priorities, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective implementation.
• Serve as senior funder/external stakeholder contact, align with award requirements and program objectives.
• Lead planning, risk management, and cross-functional coordination across programs, finance, and operations.
• Oversee participant recruitment, selection, onboarding, monitoring, and support.
• Ensure customized academic/professional experiences and robust advising for participants.
• Ensure compliance with J-1 SEVIS, health/safety protocols, travel/stipend admin.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning with data dashboards.
• Guide partner recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of U.S. institutions.
• Build relationships with government, universities, and professional partners.
• Communicate outcomes and reports meeting funder requirements.
