Job summary

The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Principal, Global Event Security and Risk Management to lead proactive risk mitigation for the Foundation and Wikimedia movement. You will coordinate enterprise risk management, work with internal teams and external partners, and guide emergency responses to protect staff, volunteers, and participants worldwide.

You will stay current on geopolitical trends, lead risk assessments for events, and provide senior leadership with findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Foundation’s efforts in proactively preparing for and addressing critical risks to the physical security of staff, community members, and other participants engaging in Wikimedia movement activities.
• Coordinate with staff in Enterprise Risk Management to identify and track risks.
• Partner with internal teams (legal, grantmaking, communications, human rights, product security, trust & safety) and external partners to mitigate physical security threats.
• Create emergency response plans for physical security threats and manage implementation.
• Be on-call to review emergency alerts and lead response during emergent situations.
