Job summary

The World Bank Group is seeking a Program Officer in Washington, DC to lead the GEF Events Team in planning and delivering international events with high-level stakeholders. You will oversee budgets, timelines, and logistics, ensuring quality and compliance with institutional standards.

Requirements include a Master’s degree with 5+ years in event coordination, strong diplomatic and leadership skills, and experience with hybrid/virtual event platforms.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree with ten+ years of directly relevant experience.
• More than four years coordinating and mentoring teams with more than three people.
• Five years of demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating high-level international events.
• Familiarity with World Bank event processes, procurement, and operational standards.
• Experience with international organizations or multilateral institutions is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the events team in end-to-end planning, logistics, and execution of international events including per diem delivery, venue selection, contracting, and travel logistics.
• Develop travel guidelines, budgets, timelines, and roles to deliver within scope and schedule.
• Develop contingency plans and troubleshoot issues in real time.
• Create post-event evaluations and lessons-learned reports to improve quality.
• Mentor the GEF Events Team and oversee performance.
