Job summary

IEEE seeks a Counsel, Employment and Litigation to advise management on a broad range of employment law and civil litigation matters. The role focuses on employee relations, benefits, leave accommodation, internal investigations and recruiting practices, and includes drafting and reviewing policies.

The successful candidate will manage outside counsel, guide ethics matter management involving IEEE volunteers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. NYC-based with ~10% travel; a J.D.

Qualifications

• J.D. required from an accredited law school.
• NY State Bar license is required; NJ or CA bar preferred.
• 7–10 years of in-house and/or law firm employment law experience.

Responsibilities

• Advise management and HR on employment-related legal issues and investigations.
• Prepare and review employment documents and policies for legal compliance.
• Manage outside counsel and coordinate investigations and findings.
• Provide general legal advice to IEEE organizational units.
• Collaborate on legal projects and support ethics matters involving volunteers.
