Job summary

ByteDance seeks an experienced Employee Relations professional to independently manage a full ER caseload across the US and Canada, with LATAM support as needed. You will advise on discipline, terminations, accommodations, and complex leave scenarios, ensuring policy alignment and risk mitigation.

You will assess novel issues, triage complaints to investigations, and support training for managers and HR while collaborating closely with employment counsel to scale ER infrastructure and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Legal or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in Employee Relations.
• Extensive ER expertise and knowledge of current ER legislation and best practice.
• Prior HR/ER experience in a technology start-up is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a full caseload of ER cases across the US and Canada (and support LATAM as needed), including advising on employee discipline, underperformance, terminations, reasonable accommodations, complex leave scenarios and other related matters.
• Assess ambiguous, novel workplace issues and construct a clear path forward when there's no clear policy or precedent to lean on.
• Triage employee complaints to the appropriate workplace investigation teams and lend support and guidance for workplace investigations as needed.
• Support HR/ER related training for people managers and HR.
• Closely collaborate with employment counsel.
• Contribute to scaling ER infrastructure, including systems, policies, and processes that enable efficient and consistent employee relations support.
