Job Overview

The Director of Quality is responsible for overseeing and leading all quality-related activities within the manufacturing operations, ensuring that products meet the required standards, compliance regulations, and achieve customer satisfaction. The role includes strategic planning, process improvements, quality control systems implementation, and team leadership to promote continuous quality improvement. The Director will work closely with various departments, including production, engineering, supply chain, and customer service, to foster a culture of quality throughout the organization. This is a global role where the Energy BU has locations in USA, Mexico, South America, UK, Germany, France, China, Poland, Australia, and more. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Quality Leadership:

  • Lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams to drive a culture of quality across all manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with industry standards (ISO, IATF, etc.).
  • Ensure that quality control processes are effectively executed and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality metrics.
  • Establish, review, and update quality policies, procedures, and objectives in alignment with business goals.

Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • Identify and lead initiatives for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to enhance quality, reduce defects, and improve efficiency.
  • Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to drive process optimization and waste reduction.
  • Implement root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues, ensuring that problems are resolved in a timely and effective manner.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies related to manufacturing and quality.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and customer requirements, ensuring all products meet specifications and standards.
  • Manage audits and inspections, both internal and external, ensuring readiness and compliance with certifications and standards.
  • Monitor and report on risk management related to product quality and safety.
  • Build and lead a high-performing quality team, providing mentorship, training, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and proactive approach to quality across departments and ensure effective communication of quality objectives.
  • Evaluate and improve the performance of the quality team through regular assessments, feedback, and career development planning.

Customer Relations & Satisfaction:

  • Work with customer service and production teams to address quality-related customer complaints, returns, or feedback.
  • Engage with key customers to discuss quality requirements and concerns, ensuring their needs are met while maintaining compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring that quality standards are adhered to throughout the supply chain.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Provide regular reports and presentations to senior leadership on quality metrics, goals, challenges, and achievements.
  • Analyze data from audits, inspections, and quality control activities to identify trends and drive decision-making.
  • Track and report on quality improvement initiatives and their impact on operational performance.
What your background should look like:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience implementing quality management systems (QMS), including ISO, IATF, or similar certifications.
  • Strong background in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in supplier quality management and customer quality relationship management.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to develop and implement quality strategies and initiatives.
  • Expertise in data-driven decision-making and reporting.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes, systems, and industry standards.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $175,400 – $263,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
