Job summary

JPMorganChase in New Jersey seeks a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead the Databricks-based data lake and analytics platform on AWS. You will steer global engineering teams delivering data pipelines, APIs, and self-service analytics while aligning platform roadmap with business priorities and governance requirements.

The role requires deep technical expertise, enterprise-wide collaboration, and a focus on secure, scalable, and compliant data capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• 10+ years of applied experience, including 5+ years leading technologists.

Responsibilities

• Own the platform strategy, roadmap, and delivery across data onboarding, access provisioning, and consumption capabilities.
• Lead and develop global, distributed engineering teams delivering data pipelines, APIs, front-end data products, and self-service analytics.
• Direct data onboarding and integration using Unity Catalog, Delta Sharing, and Lakehouse Federation, enabling governed access across workspaces, catalogs, and lines of business.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to prioritize investments, resolve competing objectives, and communicate architectural choices and delivery trade-offs.
• Establish and enforce onboarding controls for data classification, metadata, lineage, and access.
• Own platform production readiness, scalability, resilience, audit readiness; drive remediation of control gaps.
• Define and monitor service-level objectives for stakeholder-facing data products and evaluate Databricks-native capabilities.
• Set standards for AI-assisted engineering workflows, including testing and release governance with human oversight.
• Sets and scales multi-department strategy for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation; guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools, including AI-assisted development, to drive cross-domain reuse and measurable capacity unlocks across departments.
