Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a detail‑oriented Corporate Accountant to join our Finance team in Phoenix. You will handle day‑to‑day corporate accounting functions, support month‑end close, and prepare reconciliations for external auditors and the SOX program.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's in Accounting, 3 years of public or corporate accounting experience, and solid US GAAP/SEC knowledge. CPA and SAP experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience.
• 3 years of combined public accounting experience, or experience in large public company corporate accounting department.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations.
• SOX knowledge and controls familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Resolve reconciling items and discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare and peer-review reconciliations, schedules, and documentation for external auditors and the SOX group.
• Review internal controls to ensure SOX compliance.
• Assist in design, development, testing, and documentation of accounting systems and interfaces.
• Assist in providing guidance on accounting issues to business groups and in training new team members.
• Lead or mentor junior staff and participate in ad hoc projects.
• Maintain documentation for business and system processes and present results to stakeholders.
• Represent the department in meetings and communications with internal and external customers.
