Job summary

SAIC is seeking a COMSEC Engineer to support secure communications for U.S. diplomatic posts worldwide. You will engineer cryptographic systems, manage key production and distribution, and provide Tier II/III engineering support in a mission environment.

This hands-on role requires a TS clearance, strong IP networking, HAIPE experience, and willingness to travel. You will work across global networks, implement CNSA 2.0 and post-quantum-ready algorithms, and train junior engineers to sustain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; 5+ years of COMSEC or network security experience; 4+ additional years may substitute for the degree.
• 3+ years in COMSEC or cryptographic work—keying material handling and accountability.
• Working knowledge of HAIPE-compliant INEs, secure terminals, and fill devices.
• Strong IP networking foundation—routing, VPN/tunneling, firewalls, and packet captures.

Responsibilities

• Integrate HAIPE-compliant inline network encryptors, secure voice systems, and CSfC components into a global enterprise network.
• Build test plans and run interoperability, regression, and failure-mode testing with evidence for go/no-go decisions.
• Provide Tier II and Tier III support for COMSEC incidents, including on-call rotation across time zones.
• Operate KMI client nodes and Advanced Key Processors; execute key ordering, distribution, accounting, and destruction under Two-Person Integrity.
• Deploy Over-the-Network Keying: key wrapping/release infrastructure, site readiness, and rekey operations.
• Engineer cryptographic modernization including HAIPE upgrades and CNSA 2.0/post-quantum algorithms.
• Document builds and train custodians and junior operations engineers.
