Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Global Commodity Manager to direct global strategy for key commodities from Warren, Michigan, with hybrid work expectations. The role focuses on cost competitiveness, supply resilience, and innovation, leading supplier engagements and cross-functional collaboration to deliver procurement excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 10+ years in global purchasing/procurement.
• Demonstrated track record leading teams (4–5+ people) and driving results.
• Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive commodity strategy.
• Lead global teams to develop sourcing recommendations across regions.
• Collaborate with engineering, logistics, legal, and other functions to drive cost reduction.
• Oversee procurement activities, sourcing strategy, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure capacity alignment and compliance with regulations (FTA, IRA).
• Provide guidance for successful program execution and development of new products/processes.
