Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Pittsburgh seeks a senior sourcing professional to lead enterprise-wide category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity and risk initiatives. You will develop, execute, and manage sourcing strategies for complex categories, using FedEx methodologies.

You will negotiate with suppliers, engage executives, and drive cross-functional programs with a focus on analytics, risk, and supplier diversity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in supply chain, business, finance, mathematics or other quantitative discipline.
• Minimum four (4) years work experience in sourcing or related field. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.

Responsibilities

Job Description Summary:

• Leads the development and execution of multiple holistic, enterprise-wide category management strategies, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, diversity, and risk management initiatives.
• Develops, executes, and manages sourcing strategies for complex categories using the FedEx sourcing methodology.
• Responsible for strategic functions including: evaluation of category/spend information, benchmarking, and making recommendations for sourcing strategy and supplier scorecard criteria.
• Develops category expertise, category management expertise, and market contacts, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders in all aspects of sourcing.
• Leads complex internal projects/programs. Develops negotiating strategy and leads negotiations to successful outcomes of significant corporate impact.
• Effectively interacts with executives.
• Acts with senior-level authority with suppliers, business stakeholders, Finance, and Legal.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus:

• Demonstrate ability to take initiative to build internal and external relationships
• Strong verbal & written communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate internally and externally at the individual contributor to executive level stakeholders
• Strong emotional intelligence to understand stakeholder requirements and supplier capability to deliver results
• Experience leading large cross functional initiatives requiring demonstrated project management skills

• Strong data analysis and data science skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including use of functions and formulas
• Experience leading supplier diversity, risk, and sustainability programs

• Strong ability to work as a team member as well as work independently
• Experience in Quality Driven Management or similar (Six Sigma, Total Quality Management) processes
• Experience leading sourcing activities without constant supervision

Preferred experience in sourcing and category management of transportation services, including Full Truck Load (FTL) road linehaul, rail (including expedited services, intermodal strategy, and contract negotiations), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and first and last mile pickup and delivery

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in science / arts or equivalent in business analysis, strategic management, marketing, or other analytical field; degree in supply chain, logistics, finance, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline preferred.

Minimum Experience

Minimum four (4) years work experience in sourcing, financial analysis, or related field, a related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of project management, current technology tools/advances, and database/analytical tools. Adept at forecasting long-term market trends. Possess comprehensive knowledge of market dynamics and category/product lifecycle. Proficiency with cost analysis, Coupa, and Power BI Dashboard preferred. Proficiency in applying financial principles and data to complex business decisions. Excellent interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence and basic conflict resolution. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pay Transparency: Salary grade (E26)

Pay: PGH range ($6,854.33/mo - $11,309.65/mo)

Additional Details: This is a hybrid position located in Pittsburgh, PA. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week. This position may be eligible for relocation.
