We are looking for a Global Category Manager to join our Global Procurement team in Charlotte, NC.

Global Direct and Logistics Procurement (GPD) is responsible for the global, strategic procurement of raw materials and logistics services for the BASF Group. GPD/N is responsible for the procurement of raw materials for BASF sites in Americas, which involves over 100 categories not managed at the global level. These categories are classified as regional categories and cover a broad spectrum of materials such as power, sodium hydroxide, sulfuric acid, amines and plastic additives. The team also optimizes the procurement of raw materials via distribution partners and negotiates contract manufacturing deals.

As a Global Category Manager, you will lead negotiations for various raw material categories, ensuring a competitive advantage for BASF. You will routinely engage with the associated business units and suppliers, develop creative and strategic supply solutions, and align supplier capabilities with BASF business requirements.

As a Global Category Manager, you create chemistry by...

• Leading and managing the Source-to-Contract process for key raw materials, leading complex negotiations to ensure competitive supply advantage for BASF.
• Conducting market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry-relevant information and assess current & future impact to BASF.
• Providing relationship management for key suppliers, which includes monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing.
• Providing input in creating global category strategies and supporting strategy implementation.

If you...

• Have a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Possess preferably 3+ years of experience in Chemistry, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Commercial role and/or Sales and Marketing.
• Are able to lead and influence others with your strong interpersonal communication skills and contract negotiation expertise.
• Are a team-oriented professional capable of working in a global and multi-task environment, with the ability to make and implement decisions with limited information.
• Demonstrate market knowledge, strategy development, and implementation with a focus on customer orientation.
