Job summary

Responsibilities

• Sustainable Sourcing 40%: source materials considering geopolitical, logistics, currency, lead-time, capacity, tariffs and continuity risks across regions; oversee supplier performance across herbs, botanicals, spices, tea, flavors, extracts, MRO and packaging; collaborate with Agriculture, Sustainability, and European sourcing to form global strategies; travel to origin as needed.
• Operational Buying 40%: direct compliance for supplier qualification, traceability, change control, documentation, compliance, and audits; direct COGS, PPV, and inputs to inform margins; establish inventory targets to ensure continuity of supply; manage inbound logistics to meet regulatory and cross-border requirements.
• Cross Functional and Team Collaboration 20%: engage and lead cross-functionally to support development, commercialization, and special projects; establish reciprocal partnerships across the organization.

East West Tea is seeking a talented, passionate, and experienced Global Buyer to join our Sourcing team. This role will ensure supplier quality, delivery, service, capacity, innovation, corrective action, and continuity-not simply negotiation and contracting. The role has broad category accountability, managing a portfolio that includes MRO, direct raw materials, and packaging in a high speed, heavily regulated manufacturing environment.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN:

Sustainable Sourcing 40% of time

• Source materials with consideration for geopolitical, logistics, currency, lead-time, capacity, tariff and business-continuity risks across regions
• Oversee supplier performance across diverse supplier and item portfolio spanning herbs, botanicals, spices, tea, flavors, extracts, fruity, supplements, MRO and packaging
• Collaborate with global teams including Agriculture, Sustainability, and European sourcing to form and execute global sourcing strategies
• Travel to origin as needed to support sourcing and sustainability initiatives

Operational Buying 40% of time

• Direct compliance responsibility for supplier qualification, traceability, change control, documentation, compliance, and audit-readiness expectations
• Direct financial responsibility for COGS, PPV, and inputs to inform margin attainment
• Direct inventory responsibility for establishing and maintaining appropriate inventory targets to ensure continuity of supply with consideration for MOQ, EOQ, shelf life, lead time, and business impact
• Manage inbound logistics process to ensure compliance with regulatory, cross-border and financial requirements

Cross Functional and Team Collaboration 20% of time

• Engage and lead cross functionally to support development, commercialization, and special projects
• Establish and nurture reciprocal partnerships with stakeholders laterally and vertically across the organization

WHAT YOU KNOW AND HAVE EXPERIENCED:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in agriculture, business or related field, and/or 5+ years of relevant work experience in a sourcing role
• Organic food, beverage or dietary supplement experience preferred
• Prior buying responsibility with similar spend responsibility
• Prior global sourcing/ supply chain experience
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint and ERP systems
