Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Global Biologics upstream and downstream Process Engineer to support Technical Operations and Centers worldwide. You will apply advanced engineering knowledge to complex biologics capital projects and process troubleshooting, leading change from an engineering perspective.

The role requires collaboration across cross-functional teams at aseptic sites to deliver scalable solutions and ensure compliance with regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of significant engineering in pharmaceutical aseptic process design, equipment selection and operation in one of the following areas: upstream and downstream biological processing.
• Demonstrated excellence in breadth and depth of knowledge within the biological equipment area and recognized as a subject matter expert.
• Experience in specifying and purchasing upstream and downstream process equipment as a subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

• Identifies biologics equipment for multi-million capital projects across engineering disciplines, including specifying and purchasing equipment.
• Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects related to pharmaceutical biotechnology including equipment selection.
• Acts as advisor to management on applications of new processing equipment and participates in project planning and process updates.
• Ensures compliance with corporate policies and evaluates risks, ensuring quality and effectiveness of solutions for major projects.
• May act as lead engineer, project leader, or project contributor.
