Job summary

Gotion Inc. is building a Battery Product Certification Engineer role in Manteno, IL to lead safety testing, regulatory compliance, and certification across NA, Europe, and Asia.

You will coordinate with third-party labs and work with engineering and quality teams to ensure early integration of compliance in product development. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in battery certification, hands-on experience with UL/NFPA standards, and travel willingness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in EE/Mech/Materials or related field.
• 3+ years in battery certification or safety engineering for EV/ESS.
• Hands-on with battery-related standards (UL 2580/9540, UN38.3, NFPA, etc.).
• Experience working with third-party testing labs and agencies.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead certification and regulatory approval for lithium-ion cells/modules/packs.
• Coordinate testing with third-party labs (CAS, UL, TÜV) for critical standards.
• Engage with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) for compliance.
• Collaborate with design, systems, and quality teams to embed compliance early.
• Develop, manage, and track product compliance plans and timelines.
• Prepare technical docs for certification submissions and declarations.
