Job summary

Tencent is seeking an Associate, Global AI Policy to join its Global Public Affairs team in Palo Alto. This early-career role blends AI policy research with public affairs, offering exposure to policymakers, think tanks, and industry partners while collaborating with legal, compliance, and product teams.

The candidate will monitor AI policy developments, prepare briefs, and help shape Tencent’s policy positions across US and international markets, contributing to a fast-paced global agenda.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Strong interest in AI and technology policy.
• Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment.
• Familiarity with AI governance, technology regulation, or digital/cloud policy preferred.
• Mandarin with international teams preferred but not required.
• Experience conducting quantitative or qualitative policy research.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze AI-related policy developments across the US and key international markets.
• Prepare concise policy briefs, memoranda, presentations, and executive summaries.
• Support analysis of AI policy trends and implications for Tencent’s business and technology strategy.
• Collaborate with public affairs, legal, compliance, product, engineering, and research teams.
• Engage with think tanks, academic institutions, trade associations, and policy organizations.
• Coordinate meetings, conferences, and policy discussions.
