Job summary

TST Tactical Defense Solutions, Inc. is hiring a full-time, on-site Commercial Glazing Site Foreman in the Hampton Roads area.

You will lead daily operations, coordinate with PMs and subcontractors, ensure safety, quality, and schedules, and supervise a small team on storefront, curtain wall, and entr- systems installations. Responsibilities include reviewing plans, maintaining schedules, inspecting materials, and driving on-site safety while communicating progress and issues to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of commercial glazing industry experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Military Base Access.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Must be organized and have an eye for detail.
  • Some periodic travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Review activities with the Project Manager/Subcontractors and the project team.
  • Maintain the project construction schedule.
  • Attend coordination and preconstruction meetings with Owner/GC and subcontractors.
  • Receive, review, and document issue resolutions.
  • Fabrication and installation experience with storefront, curtain walls, entrances, and hardware.
  • Participate daily in work while maintaining productivity.
  • Ensure materials required are inspected and available on site in time.
  • Ensure quality standards of workmanship are followed.
  • Read and interpret plans / shop drawings.
  • Determine plumb of walls or ceilings using plumb lines and levels.
  • Accurately layout and measure openings.
  • Fabricate/install metal for glass installation using framing.
  • Operate cranes or hoists with suction cups to lift heavy glass.
  • Provide shop drawings/sketches for fabrication.
  • Assist PM in on-site QC and lead QC meetings.
  • Drive safety mindset; conduct daily safety huddles and PPE checks.
  • Prepare Daily Reports and ensure weather-tight jobsite daily.
  • Provide daily progress photos and documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects and small team oversight.
  • Resolve on-site issues and ensure proper applications.
  • Conduct daily site inspections with written/photo records.

Job description

SUMMARY:

The full-time, on-site, working Commercial Glazing Site Foreman position is responsible for daily operational accountability, planning, directing, coordinating, and executing assigned projects to achieve expectations of excellence, efficiency, and accountability related to safety, quality, budget, production, and customer service. Responsibilities also include customer interface and ensuring customer satisfaction, enforcing project schedules, problem-solving, maintaining project records and documents, managing necessary project documents, and physically inspecting the project to monitor progress and compliance with project standards.

Our search is currently limited to qualified candidates living within the Hampton Roads commuting area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review all activities with the Project Manager/Subcontractors and the project team.
  • Maintain the project construction schedule.
  • Attend all Owner/GC and subcontractor coordination and preconstruction meetings, as required.
  • Receive, review, and document the resolution to all project-specific issues.
  • Successful fabrication and installation experience with storefront, curtain walls, entrances, and hardware.
  • Participate in the work on projects daily, while ensuring and maintaining productivity.
  • Responsible for making sure all materials required to complete the scope are inspected and available on site in a timely manner for installation.
  • Ensure that quality standards of workmanship are being followed.
  • Read and interpret plans / shop drawings.
  • Determine plumb of walls or ceilings, using plumb lines and levels.
  • Accurately layout and measure openings.
  • Fabricate/install metal for glass installation, using aluminum or steel framing.
  • Operate cranes or hoists with suction cups to lift large, heavy pieces of glass.
  • Field verify and provide necessary shop drawings/sketches for fabrication.
  • Assist the Project Manager in the implementation and coordination of on-site quality control. Hold onsite scope/QC meetings with crews and/or subcontractors before beginning each definable feature of work to ensure all parties are clear on the installation, execution, and quality expectations of the scope.
  • Drive the importance of a safety-first mindset to everyone touching the project. Hold crews, subcontractors, and others accountable for all daily safety requirements, including daily safety huddles, toolbox talks, PPE, safety notifications, reports, and documentation, to ensure the jobsite and the company comply with all standards, rules, and regulations issued by OSHA at all times.
  • Prepare Daily Reports each day to make sure no issues are overlooked, and that the jobsite is running as it should.
  • Ensure that all jobsites are left in a weather-tight condition daily.
  • Provide daily progress photos of the safety, scope installations, etc.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at varying stages within a lifecycle, if necessary.
  • Manage a small team of employees, providing oversight, direction, and mentoring in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Resolve on-site issues.
  • Hands-on installations, demonstrations, and ensuring proper applications as necessary.
  • Conduct daily job site inspections, utilizing both written and photographic documentation.
  • Foster and cultivate a team culture that aligns with the company's mission and values.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of our main office in Virginia Beach, VA.
  • This is an in-person, on-site position.
  • NEED TO BE ABLE TO OBTAIN BASE ACCESS FOR ONGOING PROJECTS!
POSITION SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • 3-5 years of commercial glazing industry experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Military Base Access.
  • Previous experience managing employees preferred.
  • Understanding of storefront, curtain wall, entrance systems, materials, and construction site safety practices.
  • Knowledge and use of common hand tools required.
  • Some periodic travel may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to perform job duties while standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, balancing, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and on sloped surfaces.
  • This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Overtime may be required from time to time to meet project deadlines.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers.
  • Comfortable working on roofs at varying height and multiple stories.
SALARY:
  • Range: $32 - $45/hr
  • Negotiable – depending on experience.
  • Paid Weekly on Fridays (Mon thru Sun Work Week) w/ paystubs emailed.
BENEFITS:
  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance - Eligible after 30 Days, Enrolled on 1st of month - 50% of employee rate paid for employee for Health & Dental only.
  • 401(k) – w/ employer match up to 3% of annual income after (1) year of employment.
  • Paid Time Off (8 Days) – New Year, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas + 2 additional days, usually utilized at Christmas and Thanksgiving
  • Earned Leave (Vacation/Sick) – 80 Total Hours Accrued Annually
    • Vacation (24 hours annually, accrued at 0.47 hours a week) – never expires, but caps at 24 hours.
    • Sick (up to 56 hours annually, accrued at 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked) – never expires, but caps at 56 hours.
  • Voluntary supplemental insurance options are available to employees at their own expense.
  • Voluntary life insurance is available to employees at their own expense.
