Job summary

Combined Selection Group Ltd in Maryland seeks an experienced Construction Estimator to lead cost planning for complex vertical projects from planning through bid-out.

You will read blueprints, perform quantity take-offs, interpret project documents, apply costs from the director, negotiate with vendors and subs, support change orders, and participate in value engineering with the team.

Qualifications

• Five years of curtainwall, storefront, window wall estimating experience.
• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or construction management or related experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and analyze plans to prepare accurate estimates.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications.
• Review and interpret project documents to estimate scope.
• Apply costs using in-house historical data and rates provided by supervision.
• Request and negotiate vendor quotations to meet contract requirements.
• Develop subcontractor/vendor relationships and manage negotiations.
• Assist PM with change order estimates and scope changes.
• Collaborate with team members and participate in value engineering.

Job description

This position will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and others as required to establish accurate estimates from the planning stage through the project bid-out stage and is required to have the following skills:

• Understand and able to read and analyze construction blue prints (plans, specification).


• Performing accurate quantity take offs using plans and specifications, or conceptual information.


• Review, interpret and accurately estimate the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.


• Utilizing and managing in-house historical cost data to improve estimate accuracy.

Apply costs and rates, as provided by Director of Estimating.

• Request, organize and negotiate vendors quotations to ensure the quotes meet contract documents


• Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.


• Evaluate changes in scope per updates bid documents.


• Assist PM in providing change order estimates.


• Work and collaborate with Team Members


• Participate in Value engineering reviews.


• Participate in negotiating construction cost estimates with other parties.

Requirements:

• Minimum five years minimum of curtainwall, storefront, window wall estimating, and/or project management experience for complex vertical construction projects.


• A minimum of a bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering or Construction Management or related experience.


• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
