Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Wilmington, NC is hiring a Manufacturing Shift Tech - Glassmaking. You will troubleshoot production equipment, support maintenance, and coordinate with operators, engineers, and trades to resolve issues and implement process changes.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, participate in safety programs, and help train teams on new equipment. The role requires strong technical skills and the ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts including weekends.

Qualifications

• Two year electrical/controls degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical/pneumatic controls and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and specs.
• Strong communication and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• 1st point of contact for comprehensive troubleshooting of production equipment.
• Monitor area performance and drive issues to closure.
• Manage multiple issues using sound technical principles.
• Support Preventive Maintenance and upkeep efforts.
• Direct maintenance personnel on repairs, testing, and installation.
• Coordinate startup, troubleshooting, and process changes with teams.
• Develop and deliver training for new/modified equipment.
• Assist engineers with design, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Maintain compliance with certification, quality, and ISO programs.
• Champion a safe work environment and enforce safety rules.
• Participate in spill team activities and drills.
