Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a capable technician to provide intermediate technical support for the Glassmaking Manufacturing Excellence Team. You will troubleshoot equipment, improve processes, ensure safety, and collaborate with operations, engineering, and automation to drive continuous improvement.

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent is required.
  • 3+ years of experience, or 7+ years relevant experience.
  • Electrical certification is preferred.
  • PLC and industrial automation experience.
  • Manufacturing and process control knowledge.
  • Experience mentoring or training others.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues impacting safety, quality, and performance.
  • Analyze failures using data, signals, and maintenance history to identify root causes.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry‑leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical‑based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical‑based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Provides intermediate technical support for the Glassmaking Manufacturing Excellence Team, focusing on troubleshooting, equipment reliability, process improvement, safety, and quality. Partners with operations, engineering, and automation teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

What You'll Do
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues impacting safety, quality, and performance

Qualifications
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and systems troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and technical documents
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and data analysis
  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and cross‑functionally
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience, or 7+ years relevant experience
  • Electrical certification or ability to obtain it preferred
  • PLC and industrial automation experience
  • Manufacturing and process control knowledge
  • Experience mentoring or training others
  • Continuous improvement mindset
Work Schedule
  • Normal working hours are M – F, 8 AM – 5 PM
  • Support off shift as needed

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $59,709.00 - $82,100.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
