Job summary

O-I is seeking a Glass Manufacturing Shift Supervisor (Hot End) in Toano, VA to supervise hourly production teams in a continuous operation. You will support safety goals, process improvements, and ensure high-quality, efficient production across shifts.

Candidates should have strong supervisory experience in manufacturing, good communication, and familiarity with union environments. Prior glass manufacturing exposure is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work a rotating schedule.
• High School Degree or equivalent (minimum).
• College education in related major preferred.
• Experience supervising/leading people and processes in a Manufacturing environment.
• Computer literate w/ proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Previous experience working in a Union environment highly preferred.
• Glass manufacturing experience required.

Job Description

The Glass Manufacturing Shift Supervisor (Hot End) will supervise hourly employees in the continuous operation of the plant's production activities. In addition, they will assist in maintaining focus on overall plant goals, safety, continuous process improvements, good labor relations climate, and outstanding quality and production efficiencies.

The Glass Manufacturing Shift Supervisor (Hot End) Will

• Ensures quality and productivity by monitoring and performing mechanical, visual, and informational system checks.
• Reviews shift operation and make recommendations regarding how plant operations can further improve to meet service, quality, safety and productivity goals.
• Ensures that all people in work group are adequately trained and are knowledgeable of department procedures.
• Monitors control charts and reviews process shifts with key personnel.

The Glass Manufacturing Shift Supervisor (Hot End) Should Have

• The ability to delegates assignments and monitors responsibilities of work groups that effect the throughput, quality and safety of shift operation.
• Knowledge and understanding of all customer requirements and understanding of plant emergency procedures.
• Good communication skills and the ability to coach, counsel and discipline employees.
• Experience with administrative duties involving time records, production reports, general correspondence, absentee and vacation schedules, safety investigations, and disciplinary records.

Additional Information

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $105,000 with a Shift Differential Bonus of 8% monthly and includes a possible 12% quarterly incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
