Job summary

Blenko Glass Company is seeking a highly motivated Furnace Technician to join our dynamic team in Milton, WV. This role focuses on safe operation and support for Blenko’s glass furnaces, hot shop equipment, and batching needs.

The technician will assist with maintenance, repairs, and preventive tasks while adapting to a mix of homemade and secondhand equipment. The position emphasizes the ability to learn new skills, troubleshoot issues, and uphold OSHA-guided safety practices within a glass

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in glass studio maintenance (preferred).
• Electrical and/or electronics experience is a plus.
• Welding and metal fabrication skills or experience a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and updates for equipment and tools, including combustion equipment, electrical kilns, and related control systems.
• Provide operational and technical support to employees and trainers.
• Promote safe working practices in all facilities per OSHA guidelines.
• Observe and report on glass quality and temperature, escalate issues to the Glass Operations Manager.
• Batch furnaces with assigned glass formulations and document furnace batch schedules.
• Cut glass melt time, check quality, and escalate as needed.
• Manage storage of chemical supplies and related tools.
• Provide general facilities help and perform other duties as assigned.
