Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Morgantown, PA is seeking a full-time furnace maintenance technician to operate and maintain furnaces, interpret equipment needs, and perform skilled maintenance and setup. You will load materials, take samples, keep logs, and ensure vacuum integrity while wearing respirators.

Relocation is authorized for this position. The role requires basic math, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work any schedule, including holidays and weekends, with forklift/crane

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent is required; Trade school or additional training preferred.
• 3 years working experience in a relevant environment preferred.
• Must be mechanically inclined and possess basic math skills.
• Must be able to work any schedule, holidays and weekends.
• Forklift, crane-operating experience highly preferred.
• Must be able to wear a respirator.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain furnaces.
• Interpret and respond to the needs of the equipment.
• Perform skilled maintenance, set-up and troubleshooting functions as required.
• Understand the basic 'high vacuum' and furnace technologies.
• Perform pre-operative checks prior to and during pump down cycle.
• Set up and operate the furnace for melting as directed.
• Load and unload particulate material and/or electrodes.
• Cool, unload, identify and weigh ingots; take samples.
• Operate furnace / Melt Chair and interpret furnace-casting conditions.
• Maintain operating records and logs.
• Interpret video monitors, gauges, meters while operating the furnace.
• Clean furnaces and crucibles during maintenance cycles; replace damaged components.
• Operate leak detectors and determine vacuum integrity.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as changing filters and parts.
• Use hand and power tools; perform mechanical tasks including flame cut, arc weld.
