Addison Group is seeking a Staff Accountant in the Washington, DC area. The role supports general ledger close across locations, with a base salary of $70,000–$85,000 and potential profit sharing of 5%–10% annually.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or related degree as required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience; 2+ preferred.
• 1 year of hands-on GL experience including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, month-end close.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel skills with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Support general ledger accounting and month-end close for assigned locations.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve differences.
• Prepare accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances with operational managers.
• Reconcile inventory and support reporting and reserves analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and capitalization compliance.
• Respond to accounting questions from field teams and strengthen controls.

• BS in Accounting of Business related degree
• At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience; 2+ years preferred.
• 1 year of of hands-on general ledger experience, including account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel skills, including working with large data sets and financial analysis.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with operational teams that do not have an accounting background.

Responsibilities

• Support general ledger accounting and month-end close for an assigned portfolio of operating locations.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding differences.
• Prepare accruals, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and partner with operational managers to resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile physical inventory results and support inventory reporting and reserve analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and ensure compliance with capitalization policies.
• Respond to accounting questions from field teams and help strengthen accounting processes and internal controls.
