Job summary

Crook County Medical Services District in Sundance, WY seeks a General Ledger Accountant to own the trial balance and ensure accurate financial records in line with GAAP. The role closes monthly and yearly books, prepares reports, and supports budget development under the CFO.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting and 3–5 years of accounting experience, with strong analytical, Excel and Multiview skills; audit experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reconcile all bank accounts.
• Post journal entries to the general ledger and close monthly.

Job description

The General Ledger Accountant is the owner of the trial balance and will ensure complete and accurate accounting records. This position will apply accounting principles when preparing financial reports and other accounting information ensuring that they are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Responsible for daily, monthly, and yearly financial statement closing duties as well as other special projects as assigned. Will also assist with the development, completion, and publishing of the annual budget. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Job Duties:

Financial Reporting

• Reconciliation of all bank accounts.
• Daily revenue postings into the accounting software and review for reasonableness.
• Complete month-end financials, post journal entries to general ledger, reconcile accounts, maintain required documentation, other duties as necessary.
• Review budget reports and assist other departments with annual budget preparation and monthly monitoring as needed.
• Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Analytically review the income statement for mistakes.
• Work with other departments to make sure revenues and expenses are properly classified.
• Maintain documentation of accounting procedures and policies.
• Lease management.
• Contract management.
• Fixed Assets management.
• Lead the annual financial statement audit.
• Assist in the Medicare cost report preparation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Accounts Payable & Cash Flow Management

• Assist with Accounts Payable processing, reconciliations, and problem resolution.
• Management of Cash Flow

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
