Job summary

City of Durham is seeking a senior GIS analyst within the Planning & Development Department to provide advanced professional analysis and project management on GIS projects, ESRI web mapping, data management, and related initiatives. The role supports budget development, procurement, and technology improvements.

Responsibilities include administering GIS web maps, Python scripting, data extraction/analysis, and coordinating with vendors and city departments on technology solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, GIS, or directly related field.
• Five years of related professional GIS experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, maintain, and enhance GIS web maps, applications, portals, and dashboards to support staff and public-facing needs.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Python scripts, geoprocessing models, and automated workflows to streamline GIS operations.
• Apply statistical methods and GIS analytical techniques to evaluate historical trends, identify patterns and relationships, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Conduct demographic research and develop population estimates, projections, and related analyses using GIS and census data.
• Knowledge and use of ArcGIS Online (AGOL) for Survey123, Experience Builder, Story Maps, and related apps.
