Job summary

New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, seeks a GIS Technician I to maintain and update the company’s GIS mapping of its gas distribution assets. Support Engineering and other teams with high-quality drawings and maps for construction and field operations.

The role focuses on data digitizing, AutoCAD drawings, GPS data collection, and collaboration across teams. Onsite position with competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in CAD/technical drawing or GIS experience (or equivalent).
• Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10+; digitizing and editing in a geometric network preferred.
• Knowledge of GPS equipment and peripherals preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD (2022+) and ArcFM preferred.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Willingness to perform limited field work and digitizing.
• Duties may include other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain GIS maps and records for the gas distribution system.
• Support field investigations and GPS data collection for projects.
• Create high-quality construction drawings using AutoCAD per drafting standards.
• Provide mark-up drawings for municipalities and engineers.
• Produce maps for presentations, meetings and public use.
• Maintain valve and regulator station drawing manuals.
• Take on additional duties as assigned by management.
