Job summary

Nisqually Red Wind Casino is seeking a GIS Technician to support the GIS needs of tribal departments. You will produce maps, perform spatial analyses, and develop web maps and applications for staff and tribal members.

The role involves field data collection with GPS devices, managing spatial data, and presenting results to diverse audiences while ensuring data privacy and security. A WA associate degree in GIS or related field plus GIS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent coursework in GIS or related field and at least one year of GIS experience or equivalent combination.
• Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license.
• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Meet with tribal government staff to define GIS project requirements.
• Produce custom digital and hard copy maps in support of tribal priorities.
• Create web maps and applications for staff and tribal members.
• Collect data in the field using GPS units and tablets.
• Create and maintain spatial data, including dataset design and metadata.
• Perform geospatial analysis and produce reports and related GIS products.
• Present GIS projects, workflows and results to internal and external audiences.
• Protect the safety, integrity and privacy of the Tribe's spatial data.
• Develop working relationships with regional GIS peers and tribal partners.
• Keep up with GIS tech through learning and webinars.
