Job summary

NISC is seeking a GIS Analyst to support the build and maintenance of Member GIS databases using our Mapping GIS solution and other GIS tools. You will set up datasets, perform QA, and assist with project scheduling while delivering technical support to internal customers.

The role requires at least 3 years in GIS, strong communication, and familiarity with ArcGIS tools; travel may be required. Hybrid schedule across our Cedar Rapids, IA or Lake Saint Louis, MO offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geography/geoscience/cartography or equivalent.
• 3+ years GIS experience preferred.
• Proficient with ArcGIS suite including ArcPro/ArcGIS Desktop/ArcCatalog.
• Ability to use ArcToolbox and ArcGIS Server.

Responsibilities

• Setup, edit and maintain GIS datasets for Members including layers, fields and assets.
• Perform QA to ensure accurate as-built conversion.
• Lead or assist GIS projects with scheduling and tracking.
• Provide technical and analytical support for GIS software.
• Suggest enhancements for GIS software and tools.

Work Schedule:

• Hybrid from one of our three office locations:
• Cedar Rapids, IA
• Lake Saint Louis, MO
• Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of working 3 days per week in the office and ability to work up to all 5 days a week in the office, as needed
• Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday - the third required day will be up to the candidate and their supervisor to choose

Summary:

It is our purpose to provide World Class GIS solutions that exceed our Member’s expectations. This will be done through the building and maintenance of our Member’s GIS databases using NISC's proprietary Mapping GIS solution as well as other GIS solutions.

• Setup, edit and maintain GIS datasets for Members including, but not limited to; layers, fields, domains, geometric networks, and associated attributes and assets.
• Perform quality assurance including; collecting and analyzing database updates and work orders to ensure “as-built” conversion process is successful.
• Assist with the scheduling, tracking, monitoring, and leading GIS projects to ensure start time and deadlines are met, keeping all stakeholders informed.
• Provide technical and analytical support to internal customers for our GIS software.
• Provide software enhancement recommendations for our GIS software,

Knowledge,Skills & Abilities Preferred:

• 3+ years of related experience preferred.
• Moderate level knowledge of business-related software applications and services.
• Moderate level knowledge of:

• Python experience (the ability to customize existing scripts)
• Moderate level knowledge of the Utility and/or Telecom industries.

Education Preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geoscience, Cartography, GISor equivalent experience
