Job summary

NISC is seeking a GIS Analyst to join our team in a hybrid role based in Cedar Rapids, IA, with additional work locations in Lake Saint Louis, MO and Mandan, ND. The role focuses on building and maintaining Member GIS datasets using NISC’s Mapping GIS solution and other GIS tools.

You will QA database updates, support GIS project scheduling, and provide technical assistance to internal customers. A Bachelor’s in Geography/Geoscience or related field is preferred, along with strong communication

Qualifications

• 3+ years of GIS experience preferred.
• Proficient with ArcGIS suite and related GIS tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geoscience, Cartography, GIS or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Setup, edit and maintain GIS datasets for Members including layers, fields, domains, geometric networks, and attributes.
• Perform quality assurance on updates and AS‑BUILT conversions.
• Assist with scheduling, tracking, and leading GIS projects to meet deadlines.
• Provide technical and analytical support for our GIS software to internal customers.
• Suggest software enhancements for the GIS solution.
• Commit to NISC's Shared Values and perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:

• Hybrid from one of our three office locations:
  • Cedar Rapids, IA
  • Lake Saint Louis, MO
  • Mandan, ND
• Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of working 3 days per week in the office and ability to work up to all 5 days a week in the office, as needed
• Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday - the third required day will be up to the candidate and their supervisor to choose

Summary:

It is our purpose to provide World Class GIS solutions that exceed our Member's expectations. This will be done through the building and maintenance of our Member's GIS databases using NISC's proprietary Mapping GIS solution as well as other GIS solutions.

Essential Duties:

• Setup, edit and maintain GIS datasets for Members including, but not limited to; layers, fields, domains, geometric networks, and associated attributes and assets.
• Perform quality assurance including; collecting and analyzing database updates and work orders to ensure "as-built" conversion process is successful.
• Assist with the scheduling, tracking, monitoring, and leading GIS projects to ensure start time and deadlines are met, keeping all stakeholders informed.
• Provide technical and analytical support to internal customers for our GIS software.
• Provide software enhancement recommendations for our GIS software,

Knowledge,Skills & Abilities Preferred:

• 3+ years of related experience preferred.
• Moderate level knowledge of business-related software applications and services.
• Moderate level knowledge of:

• Python experience (the ability to customize existing scripts)
• Moderate level knowledge of the Utility and/or Telecom industries.

• Strong research and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.

• Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Education Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geoscience, Cartography, GISor equivalent experience
