Job summary

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale seeks a GIS Technician to maintain the GIS database, create maps, and perform spatial analysis under the GIS Supervisor.

Responsibilities include staff training, coordinating data from contractors, and ensuring data quality across departments. Proficiency with GPS, CAD, and GIS software is required to serve multiple community programs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering Tech or equivalent with 3 years GIS work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred and may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• Underfill eligibility may apply per SRPMIC policy 2-19.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and implement GIS applications to support missions.
• Operate GPS, CAD, and GIS software to create and maintain maps.
• Maintain GIS databases; perform analysis and modeling.
• Provide plain-language GIS planning guidance to staff.
• Review external spatial data for relevance and accuracy.
• Coordinate GIS customer service requests and tracks.
• Integrate GIS data into the enterprise system per procedures.
• Provide user training for Community staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
