A leader in cutting-edge research and technology in the cyber arena, CPMG focuses on using business drivers to guide cybersecurity activities and manage risk. CPMG offers flexible, integrative solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) contractors, among others, and specializes in cybersecurity, information and operational technology, electronic security surveillance, and support services.

Summary:

Goldbelt CP Marine is seeking a GIS Specialist to support the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) in Norfolk, VA.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • The GIS specialist works under the supervision of a senior GIS specialist.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and management of GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy and quality.
  • Perform spatial data analysis and create maps, reports, and visualizations to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Help with the integration of GIS data with other systems, such as CAD and databases, to facilitate comprehensive data analysis.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, to gather requirements and provide GIS support.
  • Conduct quality control checks on GIS data and outputs to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Support the development of GIS-based applications and solutions, ensuring they meet user needs.
  • Maintain and update GIS software and tools, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving software issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations to communicate GIS findings to stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Shall have an in-depth knowledge of the principles of cartography and must be able to collect and interpret mapping data from a variety of sources including field survey data and aerial photography.
  • Basic knowledge of GIS databases, including geodatabases and relational database systems.
  • Familiarity with GIS programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for automation is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to handle technical challenges.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain GIS concepts and data to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy and quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of computer mapping experience with ESRI compatible products.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Must be a US citizen.
