Job summary

The GIS Specialist will support the Senior GIS Specialist at Fort Bragg, delivering advanced GIS analysis, custom maps, and data validation to ensure SDSFIE and QAP standards are met.

Responsibilities include managing the enterprise GIS system, SQL databases, and Portal for ArcGIS, while developing training materials and contract deliverables for DoD requirements. English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in GIS.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a GIS Specialist.
• 2 years’ experience app development in GIS.
• 2 years’ experience providing geospatial data analysis and updates using ArcGIS products.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the management of the onsite geospatial services ensuring tasks and deadlines are met.
• Assists in establishing goals and plans that meet project objectives. Uses expert GIS technical knowledge to direct project activities and ensure that technical requirements are met.
• Provides detailed spatial and relational database analysis.
• Responsible for managing the spatial database, performing quality control checks on all spatial data maintained in the enterprise ArcGIS.
• Assists with web-enabled mapping functions and web page interfaces.
• Manages, updates, and creates geospatial data that strictly adheres to SDSFIE and Army geospatial quality assurance plans (QAPs).
• Plans, develops and delivers advanced geospatial products for customer requests.
• Develops best practices to address customer needs for managing and updating geospatial data to meet specified requirements.
• Develops and presents custom map requests, and analysis for customers.
• Demonstrates knowledge and familiarity with DoD Real Property policies, regulations, along with real property systems of record such as GFEBS and HQIIS.
• Establishes schedules for updating hard copy, digital, and web-based mapping capabilities.
• Provides input and recommendations from the data analysis to improve GIS data integrity and data relationships between GIS and other business data stakeholders.
• Provides support for managing the geospatial web interfaces, software, and other geospatial applications.
• Provides advanced SQL queries, utilizing ArcGIS database tools for analysis and data extraction.

Description:

The GIS Specialist will be responsible for assisting the Senior GIS Specialist with the execution of the GIS Support Program tasks at Fort Bragg. This position is responsible for ensuring data quality and management of the client’s enterprise GIS system, including management of the SQL database and the management of Portal for ArcGIS. The GIS Specialist will provide advanced GIS analysis, reports, and customized maps in support of customer requests. The GIS Specialist will assist in supporting the enterprise geospatial system and Arc Portal services, and data validation to ensure GIS records adhere to Army Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) and Army Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs). The GIS Specialist will assist in the development and delivery of customized training materials, comprehensive reports, and other materials in support of customer requests and contract deliverables.
