Job summary

HDR, Round Rock, Texas, is seeking a GIS intern to gain real-world experience by developing geospatial and data visualization solutions. You will assist with spatial analysis, map production, data editing, and GIS database management using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

Under direct supervision, you will collaborate with GIS staff on a variety of assignments, support field data collection and QA/QC of GIS datasets, and participate in mentoring programs while pursuing a degree in Geography, GIS,

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, Planning, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online web maps, dashboards, Field Maps, Survey123, or Python scripting is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Local Applicants Preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must

In the role of GIS intern, we'll count on you to:

Gain real-world experience on projects by developing and implementing geospatial and data visualization solutions.

Assist with spatial analysis, map production, data editing, and GIS database management using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

Support field data collection and QA/QC of GIS datasets.

Collaborate with GIS staff and project teams on a variety of assignments under direct supervision.

Participate in mentoring and young professionals' programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, Planning, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Demonstrated knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

Experience with ArcGIS Online web maps, dashboards, Field Maps, Survey123, or Python scripting is a plus.

Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
