Job summary

State of Arizona, Department of Water Resources, is seeking a GIS Intern in the Adjudications Division in Phoenix with hybrid remote options. The role involves analyzing historic watering uses, examining aerial imagery, and assisting with field investigations.

Interns will work 19–40 hours per week, may travel overnight, and must be enrolled in a relevant program; remote work within Arizona may be available.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in GIS or water resources is required or preferred.
• Experience or coursework in GIS mapping and imagery analysis encouraged.
• Ability to interpret aerial imagery and topographic maps.

Responsibilities

• Analyze aerial imagery and maps to identify water use claims using GIS.
• Assist with field inspections of stockponds using drones and RTK GPS devices.
• Search databases and prepare reports on findings.
• Support collaboration and follow safety protocols in the field.
